oh i know. its just horrible and pathetic, and im gettin kinda sick of hearing about Anna Nicole Smith 24/7. Yea i know she was a Playboy icon and what not but people gotta chill with that. move on! im not tryin to sound like an ass hole or anything but there are kids out there dying of diseases and hunger n the media barely talks about it. Martha Stewert got a nice lil treatment while in prison which i think was retarded. White coller crimes like Martha n Paris cost the U.S over $400 million a year becuase of thier stupid fancy treatments they recieve. i dont know if Paris's problem is a crime but it still runs the US lots of doe and its completely unnecessary. i can only imagine the kind of treatment Bill Gates would get since he's the richest human alive. although he does donate alot of his billions to AIDS research which is good. he's still human and everyone should be treated the same way. i dont give a shit (excuse my french) how famous or rich you are!! and the same should go for cops who think they're above the damn law and think they can get away from anything. they're people with only a piece of shiny metal on thier chest with a number. Law is law.

In Pell, it is important to look at the relationship btw each segment. I agree that part of Pell's piece has to do with differing views of the same event, but I am also interested in the way he achieves this. What sort of diction, language, and word use does Pell use? Does his use of certain phrases or descriptors remind you of another text--and if so, what text--or what kind of text?

Sam:

Interesting response. As you (perhaps inadvertently) suggest too, intertextuality is occasionally a factor of historicity; that is, as texts travel down to us through time, they accrue increasingly complex intertextual relationships.

This comes to mind when you mention the recent Tony Scott film Deja Vu. (I wasn't a big fan, but that's irrelevant here). In the film, the phenomenon of deja vu--second sight--is recreated technologically through a time-window device. While this might not be "true" deja vu, it is interesting to note the way the readings from the Handbook are complicated or enriched by the film--dows thinking of deja vu as a time-window echo any of the imagery in the Handbook readings? Obviously, when this textbook was published, the film had not been released. But now that it is, there is another intertextual relationship we can think about in response to the texts available in the book.
